A tale of two vintage Cinellis

First, we have this tarted-up Speciale Corsa:

Vintage road bike from Cinelli (Italy), type “Speciale Corsa”.

Probably made around 1965 (?).

Lugged Columbus steel framework with Campagnolo dropouts.

Frame number 8518 in bottom bracket shell.

Professinal repaint in “snow white”.

Equipped with Campagnolo Record, Weinmann, Altenburger, etc.

Full restored and ready to race:

Full restoration including professional repaint
and check, overhaul, clean up of equipment.
Full service with fresh greasing.
*Beside the still unglued new tubular tires the bike is ready to race.

Overall very good condition:
Very good repaint with only minimal signs from built up/storing.
Parts mostly good to very good with few signs.

Reproduction front badge of acceptable quality (bronze) (original badge was lost).

Chrome:
No chrome on this frame.

Size/Measurings:
Medium-to-large sized with 56.5cm seat-tube from center to center.
Seat tube (c-c) 56.5cm (c-t 58cm), top tube (c-c) 57cm,
weight like presented 10.57kg, handlebar (c-c) 38cm, stem (c-c) 95mm.

It’s eye-catching, to be sure, but we would have done a few things differently, to say the least.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have this rather sad-looking Riviera that has been disguised as a mass-produced, low-end touring bike:

1960 Vintage Cinelli Riviera bicycle – $2000 (berkeley north / hills)

1960 Cinelli Riviera road bike. One owner. Has not been ridden in years, needs some TLC.
S/N: 242R
Color: Light blue and white.
Frame: Cinelli, Brakes: Weinmann Type 730, Wheels: Weinmann 27″ x 1-1/4″, Forks: Marcel, Rear Derailleur: Campagnolo, Handle Bars: DIA-COMPE.
Measurements as follows:
Top Tube (C-C): 22″
Seat Tube (C-C): 21″
Standover: 31.5″
Crank Length: 5″
Wheel Base: 43″

Both interesting, neither one optimal—but the Riviera’s shortcomings appear less costly to address.

Stripping away as opposed to replacing or redoing, essentially.
