Had the pleasure and good fortune of being able to hammer on this lovely (riding moreso than looking—we’ll admit to not being huge fans of the satin finish) bike recently:
Is it the most modern bike to grace these pages yet? Without thumbing through the archive to confirm, probably. It is also by far the best bike we’ve ever ridden—but that isn’t a knock on steel. In fact, we think that assessment is more a reflection of the extremely capable modern Ultegra group and lightweight (not to be confused with Lightweight) carbon wheels than the inherent superiority of titanium. Titanium is different-riding for sure, and certainly a more exotic material than steel—but is it better for us, or worth the price premium? That remains an open question, we think.
Did we enjoy the ride, though, and can we potentially see titanium somewhere in our future? Absolutely, positively yes.
