Incredible bike

We would want this if it were our size…

For sale is a Bianchi bicycle I believe to be a Campione Del Mondo or Tour de France model. It is currently decaled as a Campione del Mondo. The best I have been able to date it is about 1957. The story I was given by the person I bought it from was that it was a team bike originally used in Italy that was restored in Italy in the late 60s. The frame appears to have been modified – the top of the seat tube has been scalloped (cutting off a good bit of the serial number) and the fender eyelets were removed from the dropouts. The frame is in excellent condition. There are a few small chips with one a bit smaller than a dime at the top of a seat stay that has been touched up. It includes the bottle holder and the Madonna del Ghisallo medallion on the seat tube.

It has the following specs:

Brooks Pro saddle
Campagnolo steel seat post
Ambrosio Champion stem and handlebars
Bianchi integrated headset
Universal Extra brakes
Campagnolo Gran Sport rear derailleur (chromed bronze, early version)
Campagnolo Gran Sport front derailleur
Magistroni steel cottered crankset
Campagnolo “open C” shift levers
Sheffield pedals
Campagnolo three piece hubs with Nisi Toro rims
Tressotar cloth handlebar tape
Seat tube, ctc – 57cm
Top tube, ctc – 57cm
Standover – 82cm
Crank arm length – 170mm
Stem length – 115mm

This looks rather nice

We do love Celeste…

Beautiful 1981 Bianchi Campione del Mondo with 52cm frame, Columbus tubing and much of the original Campagnolo hardware (some paint chips and minimal hardware rust but in otherwise perfect condition)

First photo shoes the bike with a fresh clean, the rest show a bit of dirt and muck which can easily be whipped away. (selling as is, busy schedule as I prepare for job relocation and no time to clean before sale).

– Converted from 12 speed to fixed gear (retained both original Campagnolo gears, crank set, shifter levers located on fram and wheel axels)

– Replaced clip in petals with vintage Bianchi fixed gear road bike pedals with leather straps and toe cages

– Removed original hand brakes and back break to be replaced with modern break lever (retained front Campagnolo break)

Original 1981 Catalog Description:

Early ’80’s Bianchi Tipo Corsa 28-T

The bike is in amazing condition. Based on the serial number, I’m pretty sure it’s a 1981. It’s hasn’t been ridden, other than around the block to test it out, in about 20 years. A great ride! It’s
had a check up, cleaned up and ready to go. There are a few minor
scratches but for a bike that is 30 years old it’s to be expected. I
will send more pictures upon request. Thanks –
