1962 Legnano Roma Olimpiade

In the USA and in a color other than Legnano pea green 🙂

lo$_57

Offered for auction is a used 1962 (maybe 1961) Legnano Roma Olimpiade road racing bicycle. Serial EE7074. It’s used but in very nice original condition. It has a 58cm seat tube center-to-center (59.5cm to top) and a 57cm top tube c-t-c. The frame material is Falck Extra Leggeri (Italian Falck Extra Light). There’s a Falck decal on the down tube. The frame is straight and not crashed. The original paint is in good overall condition with many paint chips, scratches and scuffs but still pretty nice. The chrome is great. This bike has the best condition chrome on any Legnano that I’ve owned (many). It’s very shiny and almost free of marks. The fork crown has some dull/minor pitting areas but still very nice. The decals are in good overall condition. The parts are mostly original with some same-era parts replaced with NOS parts. It comes with the Legnano engraved Ambrosio Champion handlebars (39cm end-to-end) with NOS Legnano/Gaslo plugs and Ambrosio Champion stem 110mm long. I rebuilt the original Fiamme Brevetto Longhi 36 hole tubular rims (I polished the rims – Fiamme Brevetto Longhi stamping is perfect) and original Legnano engraved Campagnolo Record high flange hubs with Alpina spokes. Original Campagnolo Record headset, 151 crankset 52/49 (no scratches on back on crank arms and no cracks), bottom bracket (thin cupped type), front derailleur, seat post and pedals are all in great shape. The shifters are the Campagnolo Gran Sport type and so is the rear derailleur. The pedals have Italian Cornez straps (REG buttons) and Christophe medium sized old logo toe clips. The Universal Mod. 61 brakes are in nice condition (might want to put new pads on). I polished the levers and put on NOS Universal hoods. The brake cable housing is original but the cables are new. Very nice Italia A17 saddle (has some scuffs but very nice). The tires are some vintage D’Alessandro tubulars that hold air. If ridden, I would change the tires. The freewheel is the original Regina Gran Sport (14-24) is super clean and I changed the old Regina SC chain for a NOS one. This is an amazing, super nice , classic Italian road bike for riding or collection.

1956 Legnano Roma Olimpiade 54cm

Interesting and unusual bike for these parts. Plus, Classic Rendezvous indicates that the Roma Olimpiade is (was) Legnano’s top-of-the-line bike.

00u0u_bzMwHx4xwOR_600x450

1956 Legnano Roma Olimpiade 54cm restored w/Campagnolo, Brooks. etc – $800 (bed-stuy)

I am regrettably parting with my latest project bike to make room for yet another project bike. This bike was given to me from an Italian who brought this bike over from the old country. He has been the owner since the 60’s I believe. It took a year but I was able to source an amazing group for this, all era specific. It’s also the original paint still, hence the chips. All rust is topical, the inner frame has been shot out with frame saver a few times over. This one is definitely worth finding a good painter.

Brooks b17 saddle and handlebar wrap
Cinelli stem and bars
Mafac drilled levers
original Universal caliper brakes (cause Campy wan’t making brakes yet!)
1960’s Frejus steel fenders (worth around $300 by themselves…)
rare Campagnolo Velox r. der.
Campagnolo record f. der.
Original Campy Shifters
The wheels have the first set of hubs Campy ever made fully polished and rebuilt to the original rims
Campagnolo Gran sport pedals from the 60’s
Regina 5 speed Freewheel

Every part of this bike has been professional dismantled, cleaned then put back together again. the only problem it has is with it’s original headset. Tis a bit pitted but not the end of the world, I can still ride no handed if that tells you anything.

Serious offers only, if you absolutely have to have this bike (and I understand) I can work a tiny bit on the price.
