No comment on whether it is worth the asking price ($1,600 OBO), but it is clear the bike has been thoughtfully upgraded and well-pampered.

This bike has some rather beautiful lugs (Capella?), almost on par with a custom bike builder.
This is a 1974 Raleigh Super Course that has a 53cm seat tube (center to center). The tubing is Reynolds 531 and the lugs which were only offered for two years on the 1970’s Super Course are Capella lugs. These lugs are beautiful. The whole bike has been given a complete restoration. Also most of the components have been upgraded. The crankset is a really nice first generation Dura Ace that looks a lot like a vintage Campagnolo Record crankset. The shifters, pedals, and rear derailleur are Shimano 600 and are in excellent condition. The wheels are basically new old stock 700c Mavic MA2 rims laced to Sovos hubs. The tires are Specialized 700×23 and are almost new. I have replaced the bottom bracket with a cartridge one and have replaced the cables/housing and the bar tape. This bike is a one of a kind and is very fast and very light for being a vintage road bike. (The yellow sticker on the seat tube is a registration sticker from 1975. I left it on but it is easily removed as pieces of it are already flaking off).
This Super Course was made in 1971 by hand in the Raleigh Carlton factory in England. It was made with Reynolds 531 steel which became famous in the early 1970s for being the material of bikes which won the Tour de France. It also has beautifully styled Nervex Professional lugs for a touch of class. This is a great example of a handmade vintage bicycle and it will outlast you if nicely cared for as it has been so far.
Vintage style is through the roof with a Brooks leather saddle (in great condition and well taken care of) and even twine trimming on the handlebars. Most components are original, but I have included new Cane Creek brake hood for a more comfortable grip.
Everything on this bike works perfectly! 100% ready to ride.
This bike is the ideal size for someone 5’5″ – 5’11”.
Nicest Raleigh we’ve seen since, well, this one. So happy to find this amidst a sea of detritus. Nice bike, nice price. Someone go for it!
